Company Description

Sea Pioneer Shipping Corporation is a leading maritime company managing a fleet of 12 vessels. We are seeking an IT Assistant to join our Athens office and support both office-based and fleetwide IT operations.

Role Overview

The IT Assistant will provide hands-on technical support, ensuring the smooth operation of hardware, software, and the integrity and security of both office and shipboard networks. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, performing system upgrades, supporting onboard programs, managing office applications such as the ERP system, and occasionally travelling to vessels for on-site installations and repairs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and support IT and computer systems across the company.
  • Provide technical assistance to both office staff and vessel crews.
  • Perform hardware and software installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain and support shipboard communications and network systems.
  • Ensure reliability and high availability of shipboard IT infrastructure.
  • Oversee vessel IT performance and implement security measures.
  • Safeguard data through effective network access control and backup systems.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all processed information.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in IT systems support or administration (maritime industry experience is an asset).
  • Strong technical support and troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with Windows Server, Windows OS, and Active Directory services (DNS, DHCP, Group Policy).
  • Knowledge of networking (LAN, WAN, Wireless, NAS, TCP/IP, DHCP, Firewalls, SSH, HTTP, SSL).
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware or equivalent).
  • Awareness of cybersecurity principles (training or certification an advantage).
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Relevant IT certifications preferred.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
