Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented
Junior Applications Support Engineer
to join our growing team. In this role, you will be part of our applications support function, assisting in troubleshooting issues, monitoring systems, and ensuring our customers receive high-quality support. This position is ideal for someone at the early stages of their career who is eager to learn, develop technical skills, and evolve into a well-rounded professional with expertise in the software development domain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Application Monitoring:
    Use monitoring tools (e.g., New Relic, Prometheus) to track application performance, availability, and errors. Escalate anomalies to senior engineers when necessary.
  • Database Support:
    Assist in performing basic database tasks such as exporting information, running queries, and preparing reports under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Support Requests:
    Receive, log, and track support tickets using our ticketing system. Escalate issues to senior engineers when required.
  • Troubleshooting:
    Assist in diagnosing and resolving application-related problems with guidance from senior team members.
  • Incident Management:
    Monitor incidents, provide timely updates to users, and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Documentation:
    Contribute to the support knowledge base by updating troubleshooting guides and documenting recurring issues.
  • Collaboration:
    Work closely with the development and operations teams to ensure smooth resolution of application issues.
  • Learning & Growth:
    Participate in training and knowledge-sharing sessions to continuously develop technical and problem-solving skills.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Education:
    University degree or ongoing studies in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    Basic familiarity with ticketing systems (e.g., JIRA, ServiceNow, Zendesk) and troubleshooting methods.
  • Problem-Solving:
    Enthusiastic about analyzing issues and eager to learn systematic approaches to resolving them.
  • Communication:
    Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with team members and users.
  • Mindset:
    Proactive, curious, and willing to grow into a more senior role through hands-on experience and continuous learning.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Exposure to databases (SQL or NoSQL).
  • Basic understanding of ITIL concepts.
  • Interest in CI/CD pipelines and modern development practices.
  • Familiarity with mobile applications support is a plus.
