The HOME Project is a non-profit organization founded in 2016 to address the needs of unaccompanied refugee children who arrive in Greece alone. Children who have been forced flee their countries and remain unprotected, find shelter in the safety of our 13 homes in the center of Athens. There, in addition to warmth, security, and stability, we provide them with a comprehensive framework of child protection services, while facilitating their smooth and meaningful integration into society. (The program is funded by the National Development Program and will have a duration of 12 months.)

"The Home Project" announces the opening of one (1) full-time position for Chief Operating Officer (COO) in Attica.The selected candidate will be employed under an open-ended employment contract, with a six-month probationary period. The employee will work at the organization's headquarters.

Α. Key Responsibilities

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) reports to the CEO of the organization and is a key strategic partner of the management team. The COO ensures the daily, uninterrupted, and strategically aligned operation of the organization and its departments. Focused on resource management, program oversight, quality assurance in child protection, and legal compliance, the COO leads THP's operational strategy and sustainability.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Actively contributes to the planning and implementation of The Home Project's strategy, aligning the Organization's operations accordingly
  • Oversees the design, implementation, and evaluation of Programs, providing strategic direction based on qualitative and quantitative data
  • Leads teams by fostering a culture of collaboration and professionalism. Oversees and supports the Human Resources Department on strategic and day-to-day matters
  • Works closely with the Chief Financial Officer to develop and monitor budgets. Approves expenditures, monitors costs, and ensures sound management of public and private funds
  • Ensures compliance with legal and tax frameworks (in collaboration with legal advisors)
  • Oversees the operation of the Child Protection Unit (CPU) and shelters, ensuring the quality of child protection services in accordance with THP standards and Ministry decisions.
  • Represents the Organization in meetings with Ministries, donors, NGO working groups, and events. Cultivates relationships with existing and potential donors and supporters.
  • Ensures organizational compliance with funders' requirements, state regulations, and policy frameworks.

Requirements

  • University degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Administration, or Business Administration
  • Specialization or postgraduate degree will be considered an additional asset
  • At least 5 years of experience in the philanthropic or social sector in managerial or senior administrative positions
  • Excellent command of Greek and English (C2 level), both spoken and written
  • Strategic thinking and leadership skills
  • Ability to build and manage effective interpersonal relationships
  • Adaptability to changing conditions
  • Analytical and strategic mindset
  • Strong problem-solving and risk management capabilities
  • Sensitivity and respect for different cultures

Preferred/Additional Considerations:

  • Prior relevant experience in NGOs and/or child protection
