
Chief Accountant

The Chief Accountant is responsible for leading the company's accounting function in Greece and Cyprus, ensuring compliance with local legislation, corporate policies, and international accounting standards. The role also covers the development and optimization of the ERP system, implementation of management reporting tools, and close collaboration with auditors, consultants, and the regional finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounting Operations:
Oversee and coordinate all accounting activities for Greece and Cyprus, including fixed assets, inventory, suppliers, clients, revenues, commitments, and other patrimonial elements, in full compliance with local regulations. - Team Leadership:
Supervise and guide the accounting team, ensuring effective collaboration and performance. - Month-End & Year-End Closing:
Manage the preparation of monthly closings, accounting notes, journals, data consolidation, balance reconciliations, and other related activities. Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. - Tax Compliance:
Prepare and submit tax returns and support the Finance Manager with declarations and the Balance Sheet. Ensure all declarations and filings are accurate and compliant. - Audit & Controls:
Provide complete and timely financial data and statements required for external audits. Act as the main point of contact for auditors and consultants. - Financial Reporting:
Deliver accurate information for management and statutory financial reporting. Ensure cost center allocations are properly reviewed, split, and uploaded into the system. - ERP Development & Reporting:
Lead the development of the ERP system, including the design and implementation of financial reports to support management decision-making. - Compliance & Quality Management:
Adhere to and enforce internal processes, procedures, and quality management standards within the finance function.
Requirements
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
- Solid knowledge of Greek & Cypriot accounting standards (ΕΛΠ), IFRS, and local tax legislation.
- Minimum 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or chief accountant role.
- Proven track record in leading month-end/year-end closing, tax compliance, and statutory reporting.
- Experience in coordinating external audits and liaising with tax authorities, consultants, and auditors.
- Previous exposure to ERP implementation and financial reporting systems.
- Experience in a multinational or healthcare/medical devices/pharma environment is an advantage.
- Strong people management skills with the ability to lead and motivate the Accounting team.
- High degree of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
- Fluency in Greek and English, both written and spoken, is required.
