Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Energy Sector Consultant to join our consulting firm, focusing on the Horizon Europe research programmes. The successful candidate will possess deep knowledge of the energy sector and expertise in EU research and innovation funding, particularly within the framework of Horizon Europe. This role involves providing strategic consulting services, developing research proposals, and supporting clients in navigating EU-funded research projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Horizon Europe Expertise:
    Provide expert advice on Horizon Europe research programmes, including identifying relevant calls for proposals, understanding programme guidelines, and assisting clients in preparing successful applications.
  • Client Consultation:
    Offer strategic guidance to clients on energy-related research and innovation projects. Develop tailored strategies to align client objectives with Horizon Europe funding opportunities.
  • Proposal Development:
    Lead the development of research proposals, including drafting and reviewing concept notes, full proposals, and project plans. Ensure proposals meet all Horizon Europe requirements and client needs.
  • Project Management:
    Manage and support the implementation of Horizon Europe-funded projects, ensuring compliance with programme regulations and successful project execution. Monitor project progress, deliverables, and reporting requirements.
  • Research and Analysis:
    Conduct in-depth research and analysis on energy sector trends, technological advancements, and policy developments. Utilize this information to inform proposal development and strategic recommendations.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    Facilitate collaboration with research institutions, industry partners, and other stakeholders involved in Horizon Europe projects. Represent client interests and foster productive partnerships.
  • Compliance and Reporting:
    Ensure adherence to Horizon Europe regulations and guidelines throughout the project lifecycle. Prepare and review progress reports, financial statements, and other documentation as required by the funding programme.
  • Business Development:
    Support business development initiatives by identifying new opportunities within Horizon Europe and other EU funding programmes. Contribute to the growth of the firm's research and innovation practice.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience:
    Minimum of 3 years of experience in the energy sector with a strong focus on EU research programmes, particularly Horizon Europe. Proven track record in developing and managing research proposals and projects.
  • Industry Knowledge:
    In-depth understanding of the energy sector, including current trends, technologies, and regulatory frameworks. Familiarity with Horizon Europe research priorities and funding mechanisms.
  • Proposal Writing:
    Demonstrated expertise in writing and developing high-quality research proposals for EU funding programmes. Ability to craft compelling narratives and technical content.
  • Project Management:
    Experience in managing research projects, with a strong ability to oversee project execution, monitor progress, and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
  • Analytical Skills:
    Strong analytical capabilities with experience in conducting sector-specific research, analyzing data, and generating actionable insights.
  • Communication Skills:
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively to clients and stakeholders.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    Proficiency in relevant software tools for project management, data analysis, and proposal development. Knowledge of EU funding databases and systems is a plus.
  • Client Focus:
    Strong client-oriented mindset with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, research institutions, and funding bodies.
  • Education:
    Bachelor's degree in engineering, Environmental Science, Energy Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications in research management or EU funding are advantageous.
