About the job

We are looking for Junior or Mid-level engineers/researchers (R1- up to PhD or R2 - PhD graduate) to join our team and contribute to the development and commercialisation of our software solutions. Our solutions are currently being developed through participation in EU and nationally-funded research programmes related to energy and lifecycle analysis and are being matured for commercial exploitation. The role requires a high degree of independence as well as strong communication skills and is ideal for self-motivated individuals.

Position roles:

• Contribute actively to the development of our team's software solutions under the supervision of dedicated product managers and software team leaders

• Translation of software functional requirements and specifications into clear and well-documented code.

• Development of complex software solutions, as well as design and implementation of new features;

• Working in a collaborative development environment with other team members working on the same or relevant solutions, ensuring interoperability;

• Critical analysis, evaluation, and synthesis of new and complex ideas and their computational requirements.

Core Competencies (Required - applicants without either a relevant educational background or demonstrated experience in the following will not be considered):

• Engineering background in electrical/energy systems (electrical, energy, renewable, or related field) with strong understanding of PV systems, battery storage, grid integration, and energy performance indicators (efficiency, power quality, power factor, etc.).

• Experience in energy data management: handling time-series data, sensor/SCADA streams, and transforming raw measurements (voltage, current, frequency, SoC, etc.) into performance KPIs.

• Software development skills in Python, with proven ability to work on data pipelines and APIs.

• Familiarity with databases for time-series / sensor data (e.g. PostgreSQL/TimescaleDB, InfluxDB).

• Ability to bridge measured electrical parameters (V, I, PF, frequency) with calculated metrics (efficiency, energy balances, degradation indices).

• Strong grounding in data analysis, statistics, and visualisation (pandas, NumPy, matplotlib/Plotly).

• Comfort working in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team (software developers, engineers, researchers).

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with Django (our backend framework) and REST API development.

• Familiarity with energy monitoring standards and protocols (OPC-UA, Modbus, MQTT, SCADA integration).

• Knowledge of thermophysical property libraries (CoolProp, REFPROP) for cases involving thermal cycles (e.g. ORC).

• Frontend exposure (React, Vue, or similar) for dashboards and real-time data visualisation.

• Experience with cloud deployment and scaling (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS/GCP).

• Knowledge of machine learning / anomaly detection for energy systems.

• Prior experience in research/innovation projects (Horizon Europe, R&D pilots) is a plus.

Soft Skills

• Ability to bridge engineering and software perspectives: explain technical requirements to developers and interpret system behaviour for engineers.

• Strong communication and documentation skills (English, ideally also able to write concise technical specs).

• Problem-solving mindset with attention to data quality, reliability, and usability.

Where available, candidates should include documented samples of projects of code they have (co-)developed or alternatively, links to on-line code repositories or to applications.

Required educational level:

BSc / MSc / MEng / (optionally) PhD holders, preferably in Electrical & Electronic or Mechanical Engineering. Candidates with degrees in related engineering or applied sciences' fields are welcome to apply, as long as they have relevant experience in the development of energy-related analytics applications.
