Position Overview

The Accounting Specialist plays a key role in supporting the financial operations of the company, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. Working within a small servicing environment, the role involves a mix of daily accounting tasks, reconciliations, portfolio-related financial tracking, and communication with internal teams and external partners. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working with multiple systems and data sources.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate general ledger entries and ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Support the preparation of management reporting packages, budget updates, and financial forecasts.
  • Prepare and submit month-end and year-end closing processes.

Reconciliations & Controls

  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements.

Loan Portfolio & Servicing Support

  • Process loan-related transactions including payments/fees.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Legal, and Business teams to ensure accurate financial data for portfolios under management.
  • Preparing investor/portfolio reports and performance summaries.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Process vendor invoices, expense claims, and payments in a timely manner.
  • Issue and monitor client invoices, ensuring timely receipt and allocation of payments.
  • Track outstanding balances and collaborate with stakeholders to resolve discrepancies.

Audit & Compliance

  • Support internal and external audits by preparing required documentation and financial schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP, depending on the region).
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records.

Systems & Process Improvements

  • Work with ERP/accounting software and servicing platforms to ensure data accuracy.
  • Contribute to process optimization, automation, and efficiency improvements within the accounting workflow.
  • Ensures compliance with my DATA.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience in similar position; preferred experience in financial services or credit management.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Softone, or other ERP systems) and MS Excel.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Fluency in English (verbal & written).
