Global leader in the trade credit insurance sector: Senior Credit Underwriter

Responsibilities:

  • Decide on credit limit requests in line with underwriting strategy and based on available market and proprietary information
  • Monitor and assess the assigned client portfolio, including risk exposure, buyer behavior, and sector trends
  • Develop and maintain close relationships with clients and brokers through visits, calls, and continuous communication
  • Support the Commercial Team in managing customers' loss ratios and contribute to corrective action plans for portfolio profitability
  • Conduct thorough financial and risk analysis to support underwriting decisions
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Claims, Commercial, Risk) to ensure comprehensive risk management and service delivery
  • Maintain up-to-date market knowledge on key industries and trade sectors relevant to the portfolio
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and group underwriting guidelines
  • Participate in underwriting committees and contribute to strategic risk discussions
  • Prepare and submit local and group-level underwriting and portfolio performance reports
Requirements
  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in credit underwriting, preferably in the trade credit insurance industry
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field; advanced degree or certification is an advantage
  • In-depth knowledge of underwriting systems and methodology
  • Strong financial analysis and business assessment skills, with the ability to evaluate complex credit risks
  • Proven knowledge of the financial services sector and relevant industry sectors
  • Demonstrated commercial awareness and client focus in underwriting decisions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; confident communicator with strong influencing and negotiation abilities
  • Ability to justify and explain underwriting decisions to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficiency in English at C1 level (oral and written); additional languages are a plus
  • High level of integrity, accountability, and a solution-driven mindset
