We are a self-funded startup venture aiming to develop a revolutionary gym machine, that will uniquely engaging strength and cardio workout. Our goal is to take this from concept to working prototype and then to small-batch production.

Role Summary

As our
Product Design & Development Manager
, you will take ownership of the design process end-to-end:

  • Translate founder's vision into engineering specifications.
  • Lead mechanical design, CAD modeling, and prototyping.
  • Manage suppliers, fabricators, and component sourcing.
  • Ensure ergonomics, safety, and reliability meet fitness equipment standards.
  • Prepare the product for pilot manufacturing and eventual certification (CE/ISO).

You will be the bridge between concept, engineering, and manufacturability — and play a crucial role in bringing this disruptive fitness product to market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Concept Development:
    Evaluate and refine mechanical architectures (flywheel, depositors, gearing, clutches, hydraulics, etc.) and resistance profiles.
  • CAD & Simulation:
    Create 3D models, assemblies, and basic FEA to validate strength and safety.
  • Prototype Build Oversight:
    Work with machine shops, 3D printing services, and suppliers to produce functional prototypes.
  • Human Factors & Ergonomics:
    Optimize pedal/handle geometry, motion range, and user interface for comfort and performance.
  • Energy Transfer & Control:
    Work with consultants (hydraulic, mechatronics, or electronics) if we integrate sensors, motors, or control systems.
  • Project Management:
    Maintain timelines, BOMs, budgets, and manage external vendors.
  • Compliance & Safety:
    Ensure compliance with ISO 20957 and general machinery safety norms.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Education:
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial/Product Design with strong mechanical focus.

Experience:
5+ years in mechanical product development, ideally in fitness equipment, sports tech, cycling/ergometers, robotics, or motion-control devices.

Skills:

  • Mechanical design, gearing, torque transmission, bearings, shafts
  • CAD (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or equivalent)
  • Hands-on prototyping and workshop coordination
  • Understanding of energy storage (flywheel inertia, hydraulics, or electromechanical systems)

Soft Skills:
Organized, collaborative, curious, and able to contribute in a visionary venture.
