Scientific Project Manager/ Research Associate for EU Research Projects in Environmental Applications

About us:

I-SENSE is the biggest research group of the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS) of the National Technical University of Athens. ICCS is ranked in the top list of European Research Institutes. It is active in several Scientific and Research Areas, including Connected Cooperative Automated Mobility (CCAM), Circular Economy & Tracing, Intelligent Networks & Services, Earth Observation and Environmental Monitoring, Smart Mobility, Multimodal Logistics and Maritime Operations, Crisis Management and Secure Societies, Industry 5.0 & Smart Manufacturing, Health technologies and Extended Reality.

We are a self-funded research group of ~160 people, highly experienced in EU-funded research. We are participating in several groups leading research, policy and industry in the fields of Intelligent Transportation Systems, Logistics, Data & Digital economy, Environmental Applications, Circular Economy solutions. These memberships allow regular exchanges of information within the scientific community and industry and are key to maintaining our focus towards delivering excellent research aligned with societal needs.

Your role:

You will be a
Technical Project Manager/ Research Associat
e and support t
he entire project lifecycle from the initial design to the development and demonstration phases
, primarily in the field of environmental and circular economy applications. You will also be required to research new and emerging technologies in the field as well as technology trends.

Responsibilities

· Coordinate developers, researchers, designers, stakeholders, and external partners to ensure timely delivery of the project within the allocated budget and scope.

· Manage EU-funded or national R&D project lifecycles, from proposal to execution and reporting.

· Extract business requirements, consolidate system requirements, design key architectural components and solutions.

· Research, analyze and drive the implementation of environmental and circular economy ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) solutions, modelling frameworks, and insightful data representations.

· Handle reporting on both technical and management level on the projects.

· Coordinate information flow with team and consortium members and ensure seamless collaboration between all project tasks.

Requirements:

·
BSc/MSc degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering, Environmental sciences or GeoInformatics

· 2+ years of experience with designing, managing and implementing European research projects.

· Very good knowledge of technology trends in remote sensing, EO data modelling, environmental sensors and data fusion methodologies.

· Experience in the fields of big data analytics and AI applied to Earth Observation for climate, land/soil and water related applications.

· Fluent oral and writing English skills.
