About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled BI Developer with strong expertise in Power BI to design, develop, and optimize business intelligence solutions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building scalable Power BI semantic models and reports, dashboards and apps, analyzing requirements, and migrating legacy reporting solutions to a modern cloud-based data platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective BI solutions.
- Perform data analysis to ensure accuracy, consistency, and usability of reporting solutions.
- Develop scalable and reusable Power BI semantic models using Power BI Desktop or Tabular Editor, adhering to best practices (star schema, relationships, DAX measures, performance optimization).
- Analyze existing BI reports and associated ETL logic to identify improvement opportunities and modernization needs.
- Partner with data engineers to migrate legacy reports and data processing logic into a cloud data platform and re-build them in Power BI.
- Ensure data models and reports are optimized for performance, usability, and scalability.
- Maintain documentation of BI solutions, including semantic models, data flows, and business rules.
- Provide ongoing support and enhancements to BI solutions as business needs evolve.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in Power BI development with strong expertise in semantic model design, DAX and building enterprise grade reports, dashboards and apps.
- Hands-on experience with Tabular Editor and knowledge of advanced modelling practices.
- Experience integrating with SQL and API sources in Power BI.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform detailed requirement gathering and data analysis.
- Experience analyzing and optimizing existing reports and ETL processes.
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and report migration projects.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Nice to Have
- Experience with Azure Data Services (e.g., Azure Synapse, Data Factory, Databricks).
- Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
- Exposure to agile methodologies and DevOps practices for BI.
