Job Description

This role focuses on providing expert advice to governments and other stakeholders on protection-related issues, with a focus on advancing the rights and well-being of forcibly displaced and stateless individuals. The Associate Protection Officer will work closely with various partners, including national authorities, NGOs, and community groups, to ensure that their needs are addressed and their rights are respected.

The position requires a strong understanding of international refugee law, human rights, and humanitarian principles, as well as excellent communication and analytical skills. The successful candidate will be able to analyze complex situations, identify solutions, and develop strategies to address protection gaps.

In addition to providing technical advice, the Associate Protection Officer will also be responsible for supervising protection standards, operational procedures, and practices in line with international standards. This includes ensuring that all responses are timely, effective, and of high quality, and that they prioritize the needs of the most vulnerable populations.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Law, International Law, Political Sciences or other relevant field.
  • Professional experience in the area of refugee protection, internal displacement, human rights, or international humanitarian law.
  • Good knowledge of International Refugee and Human Rights Law and ability to apply the relevant legal principles.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex situations and develop strategies to address protection gaps.
