For our office in Athens (alternative options Geneva or London), we are looking for a Team Leader Contracts Manager to Lead the Contracts team to ensure effective negotiation, drafting, and management of all contractual agreements, develop contracting policies, mitigate risk exposure, and represent the company in high-level negotiations with counterparties. This role ensures BB Energy is fully and legally protected and that all contracts are consistent with our in-house systems to prevent P&L losses and avoid contractual disputes.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor the Contracts team, ensuring continuous development and high performance.
  • Develop and implement contracting policies and risk management strategies.
  • Negotiate and finalize complex contracts with counterparties, ensuring compliance and minimizing risk.
  • Advise senior management and trading teams on contractual obligations and risk exposure.
  • Monitor team workload, set priorities, and ensure timely delivery of contractual documents.
  • Draft / review petroleum sale contracts, propose the most suitable and relevant clauses/ terms and conditions for inclusion in contracts and to eliminate detrimental contract exposure, reduce company risk and protect corporate interests in accordance with company procedures and guidelines.
  • Advise the commercial teams on the contractual rights and liabilities so that corrective action can be taken, where necessary, to avoid any claims and subsequent financial penalties being imposed.
  • Review and advise on tenders and drafting of bids.
  • Review General Terms and Conditions (GTCs) and negotiate mutually acceptable amendments.
  • Review storage, throughput, transportation and other logistics agreements related to trading flows.
  • Work closely with key internal stakeholders including trading, operations, claims, legal, trade finance, on contracts and projects, as required.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • 8-10 years of experience in commodity trading (preferably oil and gas).
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in law, business, economics or related field.
  • Strong legal drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Proven leadership and team management experience.
  • Proficient in English; additional languages preferred e.g. French, Spanish, Russian.
  • Ability to work within an international environment.
  • Effective communication with different departments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Observant reader skills, paying close attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.
  • Focus on reduction in contractual risk exposure.
  • Reduction in contract preparation and negotiation timing.
