We are looking for critical thinkers, problem solvers, and motivated engineers with a passion for autonomy and intelligent systems. You will work on the design, development, and deployment of advanced unmanned autonomous systems across various domains. This role requires a strong background in robotics, control theory, real-time systems, and algorithm development. You will employ your engineering, programming, and analytical skills to solve complex challenges involving autonomous navigation, perception, and decision-making in dynamic and uncertain environments.

As an Unmanned Autonomous Systems Engineer your responsibilities will include:

  • Design, development, and integration of autonomous systems for unmanned platforms (aerial, surface, or underwater)
  • Development and implementation of navigation, guidance, and control algorithms
  • Modeling and simulation of robotic systems in physics-based environments (e.g., Gazebo, MATLAB/Simulink)
  • Development and testing of perception, localization, and decision-making components
  • Sensor fusion and real-time data processing from IMUs, cameras, LiDARs, or other onboard systems
  • Implementation of autonomous behaviors using AI/ML techniques where appropriate
  • Optimization of system performance under hardware and environmental constraints
  • Development of real-time software components within ROS and/or RTOS environments
  • Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) testing
  • Prototyping and field-testing of autonomous systems in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
  • Documentation of system architectures, algorithms, and testing results
  • Collaboration with other engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software subsystems
  • Continuous evaluation of emerging tools, frameworks, and algorithms relevant to autonomous systems
Requirements
  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, Marine, or Aerospace Engineering, or Naval Architecture.
  • Postgraduate studies in a relevant field (e.g., Robotics, Control Systems, Machine Learning, Systems Engineering) are highly desirable.
  • Relevant experience in as many areas as possible from the following: Robotics & Autonomous Systems, Control Systems Engineering, Numerical Optimization Techniques, AI & Machine Learning Tools and Techniques, MATLAB and/or Python Programming.
  • Desired experience in C/C++ development, ROS (Robot Operating System) and Gazebo simulation environment, Real-time control applications and simulation frameworks, Real-time Operating Systems (RTOS).
  • Experience with the interfacing between hardware and software components.
  • Experience with deployment in the field and mission execution.
  • Fluency in Greek & English (spoken and written)
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent communication skills
