Financial manager for EU-Funded projects

Location:
Athens, Greece

We are currently looking for a
Financial manager
for EU- and nationally-funded projects to join our team in Athens, Greece.

The successful candidate will have the following duties and tasks, including:

Everyday activities:

  • Cooperate with the project management team on the financial implementation of EU-funded projects.
  • Communicate frequently with the Financial Department (Special Account for Research Funds) of the National Observatory of Athens.
  • lead on the financial implementation of projects as Coordinator
  • Manage ongoing project budgets, including follow-up of staff and other direct costs (invoices, reimbursements, procurement).
  • Improve internal financial processes and tools.
  • Support payroll activities, with the assistance and guidance of the Managing Director of the unit.
  • Organize documents and maintain the unit's filing and record systems in a confidential and orderly manner.
  • Prepare monthly timesheets together with colleagues; collect and archive evidence for projects as well as administrative and legal documentation.

Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in financial management and implementation of European projects.
  • University degree (B.A. or higher) in a relevant subject (e.g. administration, finance, management, European studies, or other related fields).
  • Familiarity with the
    webRescom
    platform for monitoring expenses of research projects is desirable and will be considered an asset.
  • Excellent knowledge of European funding programmes and rules.
  • Good ICT skills (Microsoft Office Suite, particularly strong proficiency in Excel; various online tools, e.g. Google Drive, etc.).
  • A problem-solving attitude, attention to detail, initiative and self-motivation.
