Finance Officer

Position Overview:

The University of Nicosia invites applications for the role of Finance Officer for our upcoming Athens campus. This position plays a vital role in the daily financial operations of the campus, including managing student financial transactions, handling institutional accounts, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and policies.

Key Responsibilities:

Student Financial Management:

• Handle student registrations and manage financial transactions, including tuition fees and scholarships.

• Update student payment records and provide support in payment collection efforts.

• Communicate with students to resolve financial matters and inquiries.

Accounting Operations:

• Record and manage financial transactions, including payables and entries.

• Invoice/myDATA digital bookkeeping processes and store financial documents. Manage bank transactions and reconciliations.

• Handle tax and social insurance obligations per national regulations.

• Record and manage university financial transactions, including receivables, payables, and entries.

Banking and Tax Compliance:

Oversee and prepare bank transactions and reconciliations. Prepare tax, insurance, and labor statutory forms. Handle tax and social insurance obligations according to national regulations.

Reporting and System Oversight:

• Prepare regular and ad-hoc administrative and financial reports.

• Maintain and manage payroll and accounting systems to ensure data accuracy and completeness.

• Support audit processes and produce the necessary documentation.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• A master's degree will be considered an additional advantage

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably within an educational institution.

Skills and Competencies:

• In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, including Greek Accounting Standards & IFRSs, tax regulations, and fiscal compliance practices.

• Proficient in ERP software (e.g. SAP), with strong skills in MS Excel.

• Fluent in both Greek and English.
