Reporting to the Quality Manager and Construction Manager, the Architectural Site Inspector is responsible for inspecting architectural finishes and installations to ensure compliance with the Project Requirements, design intent, specifications and drawings, quality standards, safety regulations, and project timelines. This includes oversight of finishes, façade elements, architectural details, regular inspections, and detailed documentation of site architectural progress. Provides technical support to the project team and primarily the Senior Project Engineer. Principally relating to primary & secondary control, dimensional verification and quality control/quality assurance activities relating to structural trades, and could also extend to trades that interface with the structure, or equally across the whole project. Understands the scope of works and the quality control activities required to ensure compliant works. Responsible for Mace validation checks carried out in conjunction with trade contractor's specific checks. Understands the Mace temporary works procedure and safety procedures and assists in the implementation of these.

You'll be responsible for:

·       Conduct daily site inspections and report findings.

·       Respond to Contractor "Work Inspection Requests", complete the required documentation and ensure timely issuance to the Contract.

·       Monitor and report on construction progress.

·       Verify compliance with architectural drawings, specifications, finishes standards, codes and safety standards.

·       Identify non-conformities and coordinate corrective actions.

·       Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and site supervisors.

·       Maintain detailed site records and photographic documentation.

·       Support pre-handover and snagging inspections to verify readiness for commissioning or delivery.

·       Establishes and maintains secondary control on the project from primary control.

·       Provides dimensional control for main contractor works.

·       Carries out defined inspections to allow Mace verification of the works.

·       Collates comprehensive quality records and ensure updated and maintained.

·       Reviews design information and determines if there are sufficient details to construct the works.

·       Acts as a TWS (dependant on individual competency) as stipulated in Mace TW procedure.

·       Maintains a comprehensive site diary and ensures accurately updated and maintained.

·       Provides coaching and guidance to junior members of the team.

·       Develops working relationship with a range of internal stakeholders.

·       Works collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition, and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.

You'll need to have:

·       Degree or diploma in architecture, or related field.

·       Proven experience in site inspection years minimum).

·       Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.

·       Familiarity with local building codes and safety standards.

·       Familiarity with quality control processes, technical documentation, and inspection procedures.

·       Strong communication, observation, and reporting skills.

·       Construction Methods.

·       Interrogate design information and determine if there are sufficient details to construct the works.  

·       Liaise with Project Engineer/Package Manager if alternative construction methods proposed by Sub/Superstructure contractors differs from preconstruction methodology. 

·       Produce sketches and drawings to clarify methods and construction sequences.

·       Temporary works and HSE.

·       Read and understand method statements and make sure that site operations follow these methods accurately.

·       Review low to medium risk method statements and risk assessments (to be approved by Package Manager/ Construction Manager).

·       Dimensional Control.

·       Be able to use, check & manage the survey equipment. Monitor the surveying/setting out practice of subcontractors. 

·       Check dimensions for major elements of works and critical interfaces.Undertake as built surveys for elements of the works using best practice techniques.

·       Ensure that appropriate as built surveys are undertaken by trade contractors, are correctly recorded and communicated.

·       Quality Management 

·       Review ITPs to ensure they correctly interpret the specified quality requirements (assisting Project Engineer).

·       Monitor sub-contractors to ensure materials are controlled as per MS and ITPs.

·       Carry out quality control checks using internal check sheets.

·       Apply the company and external technical information to help achieve the specified quality requirements

·       Ensure quality records are collated progressively for inclusion in O&M manuals.

·       Raise NCRs for all non-conformances and report potential non-conformances

·       Demonstrates a knowledge of civil engineering activities and how these can be controlled.

·       Good written and verbal communication with the ability to adapt communication style to meet the needs of different audiences.

·       Good attention to detail.

·       Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with the team.

·       Ability to manage time effectively to meet key deadlines.

·       Self motivated, Ability to work in teams with reduced supervision.

·       Demonstrates a knowledge of civil engineering activities and how these can be controlled.

You'll also have:

·       Construction Methods.

·       Collate Engineering Lessons learnt.

·       Provide feedback to Project Engineers on the effectiveness of materials, specialist contractors, plant and designers being used on site.

·       Temporary works and HSE.

·       Ensure that temporary works are identified, recorded and the temporary works procedure is applied to them. Preparation of TW CAT 0 basic calculations/drawings/sketches. 

·       Dimensional Control.

·       Check dimensional design data early, raising RFI's/technical queries. 

·       Review monitoring results & undertake initial analysis of any alarm events and regular review.  

·       Quality Management.

·       Assist Supervising Managers with quality issues arising on site. 

·       Ensure materials used are benchmarked and approved prior to use.

·       Hold, or be working towards, a qualification in Civil Engineering (HND, HNC, Degree, etc.) (or equivalent)

·       Membership of Institution of Civil Engineers at the appropriate level (student, Graduate, Technician)

·       Promotes lessons learnt and gain continued professional development.

·       Actively engage in meetings.

·       Desire for learning and application of gained technical knowledge.
