Role Purpose

The Accounting Manager plays a key role in ensuring the financial integrity and tax compliance across commercial and manufacturing operations. The role involves managing the accounting team, overseeing statutory and management reporting, and handling all aspects of accounting and taxation in accordance with Greek legislation and IFRS standards.

Key Accountabilities

• Supervise all daily accounting transactions: general ledger, invoicing, accounts payable/receivable, and inventory accounting.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual closings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IFRS and Greek GAAP.
• Prepare financial statements for group consolidation and internal use.
• Coordinate with auditors during audits and reviews.
• Ensure correct cost accounting and inventory valuation aligned with manufacturing operations.
• Manage all Greek tax obligations: VAT, corporate income tax, stamp duties, withholding taxes, and intrastat/VIES reporting.
• Prepare and file all tax returns timely in collaboration with internal team and external tax advisors.
• Monitor tax law changes (AADE updates, transfer pricing legislation) and ensure timely implementation
• Handle all daily mydata requirements.
• Collaborate with production and procurement to ensure accurate BOMs (Bill of Materials), standard costing, and stock valuation.
• Lead cost control processes and conduct variance analysis between standard and actual costs.
• Support budgeting and forecasting by providing manufacturing cost insights.
• Manage, coach, and develop a team of accountants and tax specialists.
• Drive process improvements and system automation (e.g. ERP enhancements, digitization of tax books).
• Ensure timely reconciliation of accounts and resolution of discrepancies.
• Maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies aligned with the company's operations.
• Ensure proper handling of fixed assets, leases, and investments from a tax and accounting perspective .

Skills Required

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or Economics (Master's degree a plus).
• Professional designation: Greek Accountant License, ACCA or equivalent.
• 7+ years in accounting and tax, with at least 4 years in managerial role.
• Experience in commercial or industrial sector is mandatory.
• Familiarity with costing, inventory control, and industrial fixed asset accounting.
• Knowledge of IFRS, Greek Tax Code, Greek GAAP and Greek Accounting Standards.
• Proficient in ERP systems – Microsoft D365 F&O is preferred.
• Excellent use of MS Excel, Power BI experience is a plus.
• Advanced proficiency in both Greek and English, both written and verbal.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• High attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective communicator with cross-functional departments (e.g., production, procurement, logistics).
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
