Ogenus Offshore is recruiting on behalf of an established marine contracting firm operating within the submarine cabling industry.

We are hiring
Cable Lay Engineers
responsible for the operation, monitoring, and control of cable deployment systems onboard our cable ship. The role includes managing cable lay speeds and tensions, ensuring correct slack placement on the seabed in coordination with subsea plow and Dynamic Positioning (DP) operations. Candidates must be residents of Greece

Training will include certification in
Makai Ocean Engineering's cable lay software
, as well as hands-on equipment operation and system maintenance. The position follows a
6-month offshore / 6-month home standby rotation
.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain linear cable engines (LCEs) and associated deck machinery.
  • Calculate and apply optimal cable payout speeds and tensions to meet seabed slack and burial targets.
  • Use software (MakaiPlan, MakaiLay, or similar) to guide live cable laying in real time.
  • Coordinate with subsea plow operators and the DP bridge team for synchronized operations.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and diagnostics on cable lay systems.
  • Support route engineering input and post-lay analysis using cable route and seabed data.
  • Maintain operational logs and participate in safety and performance briefings.

Work Schedule & Compensation

  • Rotational Basis:
    6 months onboard (offshore) and 6 months home standby annually.
  • Compensation:
  • Base Salary:
    Paid continuously, including standby time.
  • Offshore Daily Rate:
    Enhanced pay when onboard.
  • All travel, accommodation, and work-related offshore expenses are covered during rotation.

Training Commitment

  • Candidates will undergo:
  • Certified Makai Ocean Engineering software training.
  • Practical mechanical systems training on cable handling equipment.
  • Minimum Commitment:
    3 years post-training employment required.
  • Early resignation will require
    pro-rata reimbursement
    of training costs (1/3 per year not completed).
