On behalf of our client, a leading investor in leisure hotels in Southern Europe, we are looking for a highly skilled and pro-active Tax Manager to to oversee all tax-related matters for its Greek operations. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with local tax regulations and supporting the company's strategic activities in the region. The position is based at the Athens branch and involves close collaboration with the Finance Team in Barcelona. This role requires accuracy, an analytical approach, strong collaboration skills, and a proactive attitude.

Main responsibilities:

The Tax Manager will :

  • Be responsible for all aspects of direct and indirect tax compliance in Greece, including corporate income tax, VAT, and withholding taxes – the preparation and review of monthly tax returns are prepared by external advisors.
  • Lead the preparation and review of tax filings and ensure timely submissions.
  • Lead the Annual Tax Certification process carried out by the Statutory Auditors to obtain clean tax certificates.
  • Support with tax audits and liaise with tax authorities, external advisors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Oversee transfer pricing documentation and intercompany transactions in line with OECD guidelines.
  • Contribute to the preparation of tax provisions and disclosures for financial and tax reporting purposes.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities in tax reporting.
  • Monitor Tax Balance Sheets, Tax Basis of the Hotel properties and their accuracy
  • Provide tax input on real estate transactions, acquisitions, and restructuring projects.
  • Collaborate with the finance, legal and operations teams.
  • Ensure compliance with electronic submissions requirements to the Greek Tax Authorities (e.g. MyData) with the collaboration of IT department and specialists
  • Monitor and interpret changes in Greek tax legislation, advising management on implications and opportunities.
  • Act as the company's Certified Accountant, for a portfolio comprising 10 entities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with Greek accounting and tax regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Law, or Economics.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in tax advisory or in-house tax roles, ideally within real estate, hospitality, or investment sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of Greek tax laws.
  • Fluent in Greek and English (the latter is a must).
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (preferably SAP) and Microsoft Office.
  • Certified Accountant status in Greece is required. – TO BE CONFIRMED
