What you will be working on:

In your role as a Microsoft Data Engineer you will be working closely with colleagues on Business Intelligence, Big Data and Analytics projects and you will be responsible for setting up Data platforms for our clients. You will make use of all the bells and whistles that the Microsoft BI Platform has to offer: SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, Power BI. You will sometimes mix these main technologies with their equivalent in Azure.

What you will do:

  • You maintain an overview of the various domain data models in the data warehouse and are responsible for extensions and changes to the data model. Within projects and RFCs, you determine the impact of the changes and model them. You work out an approach for implementation and discuss the work with the data engineers in the team. You implement and develop the changes yourself together with the team.
  • As a data engineer, you develop together with the team the ETL flows needed to retrieve the data from the source systems, transform them according to the predefined business logic, and integrate them into the data warehouse or offer them on the central data platform. Data quality and robustness of the ETL processes are of great importance here. You integrate with various technologies such as SQL databases or MySQL, PostgreSQL, JSON, XML, Splunk, APIs. The data sources are varied, such as data on business processes (HR, marketing, finance), data on IT processes, technical data, etc.
  • You are responsible for the planning, implementation and correct execution of the scheduling of the ETL flows, so that they fit into the overall data warehouse design and correct and qualitative data is guaranteed.

What you need to succeed:

  • You have a Bachelor's or Master's degree, preferably in (Business) Computer Science or Business IT & Management or a related field.
  • You have
    at least 4 years of experience
    in the field of Data Engineering and have a good functional and technical knowledge of the Microsoft
    on prem solutions BI stack
    : SSIS, SSAS, Power BI, ...
  • You have experience in documenting data models
  • You have basic knowledge of PowerShell, Python or another programming language
  • You have experience in application integration and an excellent knowledge of relational databases, normalization and SQL. You may also bring your extensive knowledge of the MS SQL Server family and No-SQL knowledge
  • You have (or would like to have) a Microsoft Certified Professional certificate.
  • Knowledge of Azure Databricks is a plus.
