ELPEDISON, with its two privately-owned power plants in Thisvi (Voiotia) and Thessaloniki, with a total installed capacity of 820 MW, uses natural gas as fuel and ensures a clean and continuous electricity flow, based on a highly environmentally-friendly power generation process.

We are currently looking for a Natural Gas Portfolio Optimization Trader to be responsible for managing and optimizing Elpedison's portfolio of natural gas assets and contracts. The role involves analyzing market trends, making trading decisions to maximize profits, and minimizing risks by strategically buying, selling, and hedging natural gas positions and leverages financial models, market data, and risk management strategies to enhance the performance of the portfolio while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and power plants needs.

What will you do:

• Optimize the value of Elpedison's asset portfolio and ensure security of supply through trading physical instruments within European market areas and Natural Gas Exchanges (EEX, GME, Balkan Gas Hub etc)
• Βe responsible for the daily strategy, optimization and scheduling of natural gas necessary to meet the generation requirements of the company's power plants or wholesale needs and to maintain a reliable and low-cost supply of natural gas and transportation. This includes assisting in gas scheduling, transportation capacity nomination, receipt and delivery point imbalance quantities reconciliation
• Be responsible for the trading of natural gas, including financial, physical, options, swaps, structured storage products and other derivative deals within the limits of risk management practices and procedures.
• Assist in the seasonal and annual planning of gas supply and transportation portfolio and the marketing of upstream long term or daily capacity through capacity auctions.
• Monitor the PnL and risk of the portfolio, and propose improvements and strategies
• Research, identify, propose and execute on opportunities and new products to create market efficiencies
• Maintain and improve the company systems, algorithms and models to meet the needs of the team.
• Perform regular market analysis and implement it to make informed decisions and corresponding trading strategies.
• Liaise closely with counterparties, traders, brokers, regulatory authorities, and other relevant stakeholders
• Contribute to business development and strategic decision-making by designing and developing essential tools
• Ability to work shifts of 8 hours, including weekends and holidays.

What you need to be successful:

• A BSc in Engineering, finance, economics, mathematics or related discipline
• 2-3 years experience within the Natural Gas sector and/or Energy Markets in either portfolio management or trading
• In-depth working knowledge of digital improvement processes, systems and databases
• EEX Trader Certification
• Excellent knowledge in MS Office (Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Power BI), Python, and/or other programming languages
• Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, with strong attention to detail
• Ability to communicate market activity and views to senior leadership
• Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
• Entrepreneurial and commercial mindset with strong negotiation, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
• Strong organizational/time management skills with an ability to multi-task and adhere to tight deadlines
• Ability to thrive across organizational interfaces and build networks across multiple business units
