The Ship Management Division of ENESEL Group based in Athens, Greece, presently operating a diverse fleet of 25 modern high specification tankers and containers is currently looking for a highly motivated full-time Purchaser to provide support to the Procurement Department.
All existing vessels are constructed to the highest international standards in first-class shipyards. The entire fleet is chartered to high profile charterers and operators mainly on a time-charter basis.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Procurement & Sourcing
- Receive, review, and process requisitions from vessels and office departments via the procurement system
- Obtain competitive quotes from approved suppliers and negotiate for the best price, quality, and delivery terms.
- Prepare purchase orders (POs) in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliability and favorable commercial terms.
- Continuously seek new suppliers and alternative products to enhance cost efficiency and quality.
Supplier & Contract Management
- Maintain and update the approved supplier list in line with company policies and quality standards (ISO).
- Evaluate supplier performance based on pricing, quality, delivery reliability, and service.
- Support the negotiation and renewal of framework agreements and annual contracts for key categories.
Logistics & Delivery Coordination
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, agents, and suppliers to ensure on-time delivery of spares and stores to vessels worldwide.
- Ensure correct documentation for customs clearance and compliance with international shipping regulations.
- Monitor shipment tracking and proactively resolve any delays or discrepancies.
Cost Control & Budgeting
- Work closely with all involved departments to ensure accurate coding of invoices and alignment with budgets.
- Support the preparation of OPEX forecasts by providing cost data and insights on procurement trends.
- Actively seek opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or safety.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure that all procurement activities comply with company policies, ISO standards, and relevant maritime regulations.
- Adhere to safety, environmental, and quality procedures in line with the company's management systems.
- Maintain proper records and documentation for audit purposes.
Additional qualifications/requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Shipping, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 2-3 years' experience in purchasing within a ship management or maritime environment.
- Proficient in ERP/procurement systems (preferably Danaos) and MS Office tools.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
- Strong knowledge of procurement processes, international shipping logistics, and vendor management.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Familiarity with marine equipment, spares, and stores.
- Understanding of budgeting and cost-control practices in ship management.
- Knowledge of ISO, and maritime regulatory requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Team player with strong collaboration abilities.
- Commercial awareness and cost-conscious approach.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills with a collaborative mindset, accountability, and a proactive approach to developing solutions and alternatives.
- Strong self-drive and a genuine interest in the nature of the job.
- An environmentally conscious mindset with a focus on sustainability.
