About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Java Backend Developer (6+ years experience) to design, build, and scale secure, high‑performance backend systems for a FinTech e‑commerce platform. This role focuses on business‑critical services that power financial transactions, integrations, and high‑volume payment workflows. You will collaborate closely with product, frontend, DevOps, and QA teams, while also mentoring engineers and contributing to technical leadership.

What You'll Do

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure Java backend services using modern best practices
  • Build, optimize, and maintain REST and SOAP APIs for high‑volume e‑commerce and payment workflows
  • Participate in technical analysis, system design, and architecture decisions for new and existing services
  • Provide accurate effort estimations and contribute to project planning and delivery timelines
  • Own and improve integration layers with internal and external systems (payment gateways, financial services, third‑party APIs)
  • Ensure data consistency, transaction management, and reliability across services
  • Troubleshoot production issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and implement long‑term fixes
  • Write clean, maintainable, well‑tested code; conduct code reviews and enforce engineering standards
  • Mentor and technically guide up to 6 developers, supporting their growth and code quality
  • Collaborate with DevOps to support CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and environment stability
  • Assist with release planning and release execution, ensuring smooth and low‑risk deployments
  • Support Jira task creation, assignment, estimation, and tracking within Agile/Scrum teams

Required Skills & Experience

  • 6+ years of hands‑on Java backend development experience (Java 11+ required)
  • Strong expertise in Core Java and Spring Boot
  • Solid experience with RESTful services, SOAP APIs, and transactional systems
  • 6+ years of experience building and maintaining system integrations
  • Strong understanding of relational databases, SQL, and transaction management
  • Experience with API security, performance optimization, and scalable architectures
  • Proficiency with Git and Agile/Scrum development practices
  • Ability to perform technical analysis, estimation, and architectural design independently
  • Basic experience with HTML and CSS
  • Some experience with JavaScript (debugging, minor enhancements, or API integration support)

Nice to Have / Optional Skills

  • Experience with Servlets, XSL, or FTL (FreeMarker templates)
  • FinTech, payments, banking, or e‑commerce domain experience
  • Exposure to CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, etc.)
  • Experience working in high‑availability, high‑throughput systems
