We are strengthening our Development team as we continue enhancing our KYC platforms and expanding our integrations with external registries and third-party providers. To support this growth, we are seeking a Senior Backend Development Engineer (Integrations), reporting to the Development Lead.

The role is hybrid and full-time, based in Athens or Stockholm.

Role Description

As a Senior Backend Development Engineer, you will design, build, and optimize backend services and integration layers across our platform. The role focuses on scalable microservices, secure API design, external data integrations, and high-performance backend architecture.

You will work closely with other backend engineers, QA, and product managers to deliver robust functionality aligned with regulatory and client needs. The ideal candidate has deep backend expertise, strong understanding of distributed systems, and experience working in diverse integration environments.

Duties & Responsibilities

· Design, develop, and maintain backend services, microservices, and internal APIs.

· Implement and manage integrations with third-party services, government registries, and external systems.

· Own API design, data flow, and integration architecture across the platform.

· Write clean, efficient, and testable code following modern engineering best practices.

· Optimize backend performance, scalability, and security.

· Conduct code reviews and provide technical mentorship to peers.

· Document system architecture, API specifications, and integration workflows.

· Collaborate with QA and DevOps teams to ensure robust deployments and CI/CD automation.

· Support troubleshooting and resolution of production issues.

Requirements

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

· years of professional backend development experience.

· Strong proficiency with or Java/Spring.

· Solid hands-on experience with RESTful APIs, external integrations, and API lifecycle management.

· Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred) and SQL optimization.

· Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, and containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes).

· Understanding of microservices architectures and distributed systems.

· Knowledge of fintech, RegTech, enterprise SaaS, or blockchain-based platforms will be considered an advantage.

· Strong problem-solving skills, communication skills, and fluency in English.
