The Center of Research and Technology Hellas - CERTH is internationally recognized for its interdisciplinary research on climate change, sustainable energy, advanced robotics, Internet of Things, healthcare and nutrition, and autonomous vehicles. CERTH is a self-supported Research Centre generating an average annual turnover of ~€ 40M coming from: bilateral industrial research contracts (14%), competitive research projects (74%) and government institutional funding (12%). It is one of the top research and development employers for highly qualified personnel in Southeastern Europe, with more than 1300 employees, the majority of whom are scientists and engineers. The Chemical Process and Energy Resources Institute – CPERI is one of the 5 research institutes of CERTH, and has expanded in the last 5 years generating an average annual turnover of €10 M.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Research Associate on Energy Assessment at CERTH. The main role is to assist and support our team in conducting energy assessments using life cycle thinking approach.

The position includes collaboration with industrial stakeholders, research partners, and policy actors, aiming to identify and promote sustainable solutions. A key aspect of the role is the ability to translate scientific findings into policy-relevant insights and practical applications, delivering multiple benefits for the economy, society, and the environment.

Candidates should have a solid background in engineering, and demonstrate familiarity with quantitative methods, modeling tools, and relevant software. Strong analytical and communication skills are also essential for effective interdisciplinary collaboration and dissemination of results.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 year of experience in Life Cycle Assessment
  • Experience in developing energy models and evaluating energy projects, including integration of optimization techniques
  • Ability to provide recommendations on system utilization and process impacts
  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners
  • Programming skills are considered an asset
