e are now looking for a
Senior Data Engineer
to join their team in Athens

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and optimize database performance to ensure high availability of data systems to the Analytics & Strategy team
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes for efficient data processing
  • Evaluate and integrate new data technologies to enhance the company's data ecosystem
  • Establish data governance standards and best practices for data quality and security, including the creation and maintenance of comprehensive documentation for data models, pipelines, and architecture
  • Collaborate with data scientists, business analysts and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Architect and implement robust data infrastructure solutions to support business intelligence and analytics needs
  • Conduct data mining, data engineering, preprocessing and validation for structured and unstructured datasets
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on complex data projects
  • Present analytical results clearly to non-technical stakeholders

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in relevant fields of MIS / Data Engineer
  • University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Science, Economics or related discipline. Master's Degree will be considered as an asset
  • Expert knowledge of database systems and data warehousing concepts including dimensional modeling, star/snowflake schemas, and data marts
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL for complex querying, optimization, and data management
  • Strong programming skills in Python for data manipulation, transformation, and automation
  • Extensive experience designing and implementing ETL/ELT pipelines for large-scale data processing
  • Hands-on experience with data orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Azure Data Factory)
  • Proven expertise with cloud infrastructure and services (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Practical knowledge of Databricks ecosystem and Azure Synapse Analytics for data processing and analytics
  • Experience with distributed processing frameworks (Spark, Hadoop)
  • Working knowledge of data versioning, data quality monitoring, and testing methodologies
  • Strong understanding of data governance principles and best practices
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills in both Greek and English to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams in an international environment
  • Experience with CI/CD practices for data pipelines and infrastructure as code
  • Ability to dissect complex data structures
