The Associate Project Manager IC1 role is a position on the Transform Engineering track. An employee holding this position is expected to have an industry-recognized project management qualification, some direct software delivery management experience and to be able to apply formal project management techniques across a wide variety of technical and non-technical projects.
OpenBet predominantly uses Agile development methodology and so experience of Kanban and Scrum is highly desirable, but the ability to deliver Waterfall (iterative) projects is also important. Experience working with an Agile-at-Scale framework (e.g., SAFe, Agile Squads) would be beneficial to the role but not essential.
The role involves working with cross-functional teams distributed across multiple geographies to deliver high-quality end products to customers (internal and external).
The following contains specific, but not limited to, responsibilities and mandatory skillset / qualifications for a candidate to be considered for this role.
Responsibilities
- Manage allocated projects within the team or account, including project planning, resource management, budget control, and project reporting as required.
- Be responsible for delivery of software to a high quality and accurate to the specification for your designated team or account/s
- Manage delivery of change within sprints and ensure that all ceremonies such as sprint reviews, sprint planning and sprint retrospectives are appropriately prepared, performed and actioned
- Coaching and championing of the use of Agile methodologies (where appropriate) or the customers' preferred methodology
- Support continuous improvement by investigating ways to improve the quality of communication, processes and deliverables in conjunction with the programme manager
- Maintain and provide all account stakeholders with a clear resource view from a capacity and capability perspective
- Assist with the financial management of your allocated projects in conjunction with the Programme Manager and Commercial managers of the account/s.
- Support all month end billing processes in conjunction with the finance department
- Responsible for or supporting the provision of Account / Functional unit updates to internal stakeholders.
- Provide day-to-day customer liaison (internal and external) and relationship management
- Support the team management in managing and motivating technical teams, involving both local and remote teams, to deliver their allocated projects
- Support the team management (including Development Manager and Programme Manager) to deliver day-to-day work responsibilities
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education to degree level is desirable (but not mandatory)
- At least one formal Project Management qualification (such as Prince2 / Agile Project Management / APM's Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ) / APM's Project Management Qualification (PMQ)) / PMI's Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) / PMI's Project Management Professional (PMP))
- A sound level of understanding of both Waterfall and Agile development methodologies; delivery approaches and management (including scrum management)
- 1+ years direct experience of managing the delivery of technical projects (experience of managing software development projects would be ideal)
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
- Confidence and professionalism in all aspects of your work
It would be great to see some of these key skills/experiences as well:
- Experience of working in the Online Gaming and Sports betting industry
- Good people management skills including experience managing technical resources (e.g., software developers, test engineers)
- Analytical skills to assess the performance of the team to drive continuous improvement and act upon key business KPIs
- Strong attention to detail
- Experience of internal and external stakeholder management
- Ability to set or implement priorities and focus teams on what is most important
- Tools experience - JIRA, Confluence (Wiki), Tenrox or other time management systems, WorkDay or other HR management software, O365, Excel, PowerPoint
