Municipality of Athens, Greece Mace Full time

At Mace, our purpose is to redefine the boundaries of ambition. We believe in creating places that are responsible, bringing transformative impact to our people, communities and societies across the globe. To learn more about our purpose, culture and priorities, visit our strategy site.

Within our consult business we harness our unique combination of leading-edge practical expertise and project delivery to unlock the potential in every project.

The project: We require a planning manager with retail/mall construction project experience for a major development in Athens Greece. The candidate must be able to demonstrate a track record in managing major projects over €100m, including dealing with extension of time claims. The candidate should be dynamic and able to work effectively in large teams, be self-motivated and be able to deal with changing deadlines and requirements.

Our values shape the way we consult, and define the people we want to join us on our journey:

Safety First - Going Home Safe and Well:

  •  You will be an advocate of Mace's value of safety first, and be accountable for leading and maintaining exceptional safety, quality, cost, programme, sustainability and project compliance standards.
  •  You will possess expertise in local health and safety rules and regulations relevant to project portfolio.
  •  You will champion a diverse and inclusive working environment and understand the importance of the wellbeing of the people you manage.

Client Focus - Deliver on Our Promise:

  • You will manage the delivery of key assignments and defined business areas, providing strategic direction and monitoring delivery aligned with overall vision and objectives.
  • You will support the long-term success of planning performance for specified engines/sectors/hubs and the overall contribution to the broader company goals.
  • You will support the planning function in ensuring projects and tenders are effectively planned, scheduled, and monitored.
  • Effectively work with stakeholders, clients, contractors and subcontractors on a daily basis.
  • Implementing project planning and scheduling strategy per the client's plans and procedures.
  • Creating and evaluate master schedules using Primavera P6 for mega projects.
  • Creating a level 5 commissioning, validation and qualification schedule for the client.
  • Performing probabilistic analysis on integrated schedules and contractor schedules.
  • Preparing and update progress reports as required by the client, including the integrated planning/scheduling contribution to the monthly project report and specific reports/presentations.
  • Ensuring that schedule-related data from vendors, suppliers, engineering and construction contractors of actual projects is provided as feedback into the planning and scheduling systems.
  • Monitoring and communicate any possible project issues that could delay the schedule.
  • Conducting the required project schedule analysis, critical path analysis and schedule risk analysis for the project as a whole, including evaluating deviations from the baseline in the project master schedule, highlighting bottlenecks, proposing corrective actions and highlighting the overall schedule impact of any variance/change order.
  • Working closely with various disciplines in project teams to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the schedules produced without compromising your independence as a scheduler so you can advise project management on issues requiring judgment.

Integrity - Always Do the Right Thing:

  • You will support senior management in negotiations, contract development and other business development, ensuring that due diligence is applied.
  • You will support the long-term development of strategy for a function or business unit (BU), creating a sustainable business future.
  • You will commit to making a positive impact for our people, our clients, and our planet, and take ownership for holding others to account who do not uphold the Mace values.

Create Opportunity - For Our People to Excel:

  • You will support your project team and provide an environment to share knowledge and experience.
  • You will actively network, innovate, and seek understanding of best practice, utilising the full depth of knowledge of Mace group, the centres of excellence, Mace way control centre and knowledge hub.
  • You will develop and maintain effective communication and collaborative relationships with the client and other project stakeholders, both internal and external.

You'll need to have:

  • Experience working in a planning and scheduling position for engineering, procurement, and construction projects is essential.
  • Familiarity with construction drawings, specifications and construction contracting.
  • Capable of producing logic-driven schedules from limited project information - conceptual schedule from initiation through to closeout; identify major phases through that timeline and be able to determine and discuss dependencies.
  • Knowledge of system start-up sequences and major dependencies.
  • Skilled in Primavera (P6) to:
  • Create master schedules with key milestones.
  • Create detailed commissioning, validation and qualification schedules.

  • Identifying and trending movement to key float paths and baselines.
  • A background in project controls is beneficial.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills are required.

You'll also have:

  • Scheduling experience in the construction industry.
  • A degree in construction, engineering or a related field, or have demonstrated equivalent and related experience.
  • A certification by AACE or PMI in planning/scheduling (preferred).

We are also open to discussing part time, flexible, and hybrid working options if suitable within the role.
