Role Overview

We are seeking a
Maritime Trade Systems Consultant
based in Athens to contribute to policy-focused research and consulting related to cross-border trade facilitation, customs systems, and logistics performance. This role is ideal for professionals with an interest in port governance, trade architecture, and regional integration across the Eastern Mediterranean and Black Sea regions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct background research on regulatory harmonization, port reform initiatives, and logistics modernization in the region
  • Draft briefing notes and research summaries on corridor competitiveness, customs bottlenecks, and trade digitization
  • Support policy benchmarking exercises aligned with international standards such as the WTO TFA or EU regional trade programs
  • Analyze governance structures and institutional roles in port and trade corridor oversight
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop actionable policy insights for donor and public sector clients
  • Monitor policy developments in Greece, the Balkans, and wider Mediterranean trade integration frameworks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Academic background in International Trade, Public Policy, Maritime Studies, or related field
  • 2–5 years of experience in applied policy research, logistics advisory, or public sector modernization
  • Familiarity with EU trade policies, customs initiatives, and regional integration programs
  • Strong writing and synthesis skills, with the ability to communicate complex trade concepts to non-specialists
  • English fluency required; Greek or other regional languages a plus
