Application Developer - IBM z/OS Mainframe

Job Description


•Participate in the full software development lifecycle of IT projects


•Design, develop, maintain, and troubleshoot software applications using the IBM z/OS mainframe operating system


•Act as an expert across Banking Application implementation projects, working closely with clients to understand their requirements and translate them into technical specifications


•Design both client- and server-side architectures, ensuring scalability and performance


•Apply existing programming, naming, and security standards while maintaining accurate code documentation


•Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following best practices


•Test, deploy, and optimise applications and systems, revising or debugging where needed


•Continuously improve existing software and support process enhancement initiatives


•Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments and act as a technical consultant to support business and client needs

Candidate's Profile


•University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline


•Proven experience as an Application Developer (back-end preferred), ideally within the Card Systems or banking area


•Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and experience in C, Java, or Python


•Familiarity with relational databases such as DB2 or SQL Server, and software development methodologies (Agile or Waterfall)


•Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and communication skills


•Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in distributed teams under strict deadlines


•Fulfilled military obligations (if applicable)


•Experience in AS/400 or z/OS mainframe systems, API practices (RESTful), version control (Git/SVN), or tools like Jira and Confluence will be considered an advantage
