Job Description

Your day as a Java Software Engineer

As a Java Developer you will work in our Retail Software Development team to enhance our in-house products. You will oversee development and software initiatives from design to deployment. You will work with a variety of technologies with a focus on the Salesforce Heroku platform.

You will need to:

  • Develop Java based code using the Heroku platform
  • Develop and maintain Java applications to achieve various business requirements
  • Develop and maintain APIs
  • Implement integrations with external systems as integration partners
  • Write well designed, testable and efficient code

Operational Management:

  • Develop, design and deploy our core software systems and applications
  • Identify Opportunities for improvement with our current systems and technical debt
  • Participate in planning sessions providing accurate estimations and delivery dates
  • Participate in Code Review sessions
  • Ensure all code is written to a high level of quality
  • Ensure all code is secure and follows secure coding practices

Necessary Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1-3 years experience as a Java Developer
  • Experience with a cloud platforms such as Salesforce Heroku, Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure
  • Knowledge in Postgres SQL and other database platforms
  • Proficient with REST and SOAP APIs
  • Knowledge of Salesforce frameworks is ideal
  • Ability to breakdown complex problems
  • Be solution focused
  • Ability to multi-task, high attention to detail and excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team, to ensure that common goals are achieved
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
