A Day in the Life of a Senior Software Engineer in Test

You'll own the automation strategy across distributed, microservice-based systems built in Java, Kotlin, and deployed on the cloud. Working closely with backend, DevOps, and product teams, you'll design, code, and optimize automated test frameworks that integrate seamlessly into CI/CD pipelines — ensuring reliability, performance, and fast delivery cycles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain advanced automation frameworks for UI, API, and integration testing.
  • Embed automated testing into the SDLC using a shift-left and continuous testing mindset.
  • Build robust, maintainable tests using Playwright, Postman, and custom scripts in JavaScript, Python, or Java.
  • Validate complex workflows across Kafka, RabbitMQ, and RESTful microservices.
  • Integrate testing pipelines into CI/CD (GitLab, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions).
  • Drive metrics-based quality improvements and participate in release readiness reviews.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of QA or Software Engineering experience with strong automation focus.
  • Deep hands-on experience with Playwright (or Cypress, Selenium).
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, Python, or Java for building test frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of API testing, Postman, and RESTful services.
  • Experience with CI/CD, Git, and Agile environments.
  • Familiarity with SQL, Kafka, RabbitMQ, and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).

Nice to Have

  • Cloud testing experience (AWS / GCP).
  • Performance and load testing (e.g. k6, JMeter).
  • Security or contract testing exposure.
