VCL is looking to expand its team with a
Postdoctoral Researcher
specializing in
Machine Learning
and
Deep Learning
. We are a dynamic research group conducting cutting-edge research in computer vision, computer graphics, and AI-driven technologies, with applications across diverse domains.

Our work is primarily funded by the European Commission, and we participate in several high-impact Horizon Europe projects pushing the boundaries of technology. The successful candidate will contribute to the
DETECTOR
(explainable video deepfake detection) and/or
PRESENCE
(live 3D reconstruction of humans) Horizon Europe projects:

  • DETECTOR

    Deepfake Evidence and Technology for Forensic Content Oversight and Research

    A toolset for hyper-realistic and XR-based human-human and human-machine interactions

, offering exciting opportunities to contribute to state-of-the-art research while collaborating with leading experts across Europe.

WORK YOU'LL DO

As a Postdoctoral Researcher, your primary focus will be on research and innovation, including:

  • Conducting research and supervising research assistants to push the state of the art in computer graphics and computer vision.
  • Designing and implementing novel machine learning and deep learning algorithms for complex data analysis and interpretation tasks.
  • Publishing high-quality papers in leading scientific journals and presenting findings at international conferences.
  • Exploring new research directions, identifying challenges, and proposing innovative solutions.
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure research outcomes translate into practical, impactful applications.
  • Leading a dedicated team to drive VCL's strategic engagement and successful delivery within EU-funded Horizon Europe projects, while identifying future funding opportunities.
  • Mentoring junior researchers and facilitating knowledge exchange within the group.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking candidates who meet the following qualifications:

  • A PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Computer Graphics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and C++, with experience in frameworks such as PyTorch.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing deep learning architectures for computer vision tasks.
  • A strong publication record in top-tier conferences and journals.
  • Experience in EU-funded research projects (Horizon Europe).
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Ability to train and mentor junior research assistants.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Familiarity with best practices in software development, version control, and testing.
