The core mission of the Senior Software Engineering LeadThe Senior Engineering Leader will lead and develop three software engineering teams (six engineers in total). You'll build high-performing, collaborative teams through trust, coaching, and empowerment, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous growth. As a bridge between business strategy and engineering execution, you'll ensure alignment with the department's vision while driving clarity, accountability, and technical excellence.
As this is a newly defined organizational role, the role's scope and responsibilities will naturally evolve according to departmental needs, organizational growth, and feedback from team members and stakeholders.

- Hybrid / Remote: When hiring in Greece, we're open to candidates from all cities in Greece. Those based within 55 km of our Athens office will follow a hybrid work model. For candidates located beyond that radius, a fully remote arrangement is available.
Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you will be responsible for a team of 6 engineers (front-end and back-end). You will collaborate closely with QA, infrastructure, product, design, and engineering leadership to deliver secure, scalable, and high-quality solutions that support our customers and drive business impact.

- Team Leadership & Culture – Build high-performing, collaborative teams by fostering trust, innovation, and continuous improvement, while embedding company values and maintaining strong team morale.
- People Management & Development – Coach, mentor, and develop engineers and managers through regular feedback, goal setting, and growth planning, ensuring individuals are supported, unblocked, and set up for success.
- Resource Management & Hiring – Optimize team structure, allocation, and staffing to balance short-term project needs with long-term growth, contributing to hiring strategies, leveling discussions, and talent evaluations.
- Strategic Planning & Delivery – Drive the planning and execution of engineering initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals, technical vision, and delivery timelines while proactively managing risks, dependencies, and efficiency systems.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration – Partner closely with product, design, and other departments to streamline communication, planning, and delivery across teams, facilitating agile ceremonies and alignment on shared objectives.
- Stakeholder Communication – Maintain transparent communication with leadership and key stakeholders through regular updates, risk reporting, and progress metrics, ensuring clarity and trust across all levels.
- Engineering Excellence & Standards – Uphold high standards in code quality, security, documentation, and technical best practices, enabling modernization and reducing technical debt through empowered technical leadership.
Skills, knowledge, and experience points required to unlock the role of Senior Software Engineering Lead at Hack The Box:
- Previous experience in engineering leadership roles and successfully delivering complex initiatives
- Previous technical background with the ability to understand technical complexity and contribute to architecture and process decisions
- Proven leadership, mentorship, and team-building skills
- Experience working in cross-functional environments, driving alignment, and resolving communication gaps
- Deep understanding of modern engineering practices, secure development, testing, and DevOps workflows
- Comfortable managing project status reporting, risk management, and stakeholder communication
- Experience in resource planning, hiring, and supporting team growth and structure
- Nice to have: experience in enterprise software delivery
