Marine Technical Procurement Specialist

Job Description:

The Marine Technical Procurement Specialist will be responsible for assessing and validating the technical capabilities of new suppliers and product specifications. This role will ensure that suppliers comply with quality, certification, and regulatory standards.

The specialist will work closely with the Procurement team to integrate new suppliers and collaborate with R&D, Production, and Quality teams to assess new raw materials.

This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to technical details, and a strong knowledge of materials, components, and manufacturing processes.

The ideal candidate will have experience in shipping, maritime, or industrial sectors and be familiar with ERP procurement modules and supplier management systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess and validate the technical capabilities of new suppliers and product specifications.
  • Ensure suppliers comply with quality, certification, and regulatory standards.
  • Work closely with the Procurement team to integrate new suppliers.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Production, and Quality teams to assess new raw materials.
  • Review technical specifications, test reports, and compliance documents.
  • Approve new materials and coordinate integration into procurement processes.
  • Work with procurement to identify technical alternatives or secondary suppliers.
  • Periodically analyze vendor portfolio to identify overlapping suppliers.
  • Support supplier consolidation strategies to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure technical feasibility and quality consistency in vendor merging initiatives.
  • Assist Engineering, R&D and Production teams in identifying technical sourcing requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with technical and quality standards for one-time project purchases.
  • Conduct periodic technical reviews of approved suppliers.
  • Ensure ongoing supplier compliance with quality, safety, and technical standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in engineering, naval architecture or related field

3+ years of experience in procurement, technical buying, or supplier validation roles

Experience in shipping, maritime, or industrial sector

Strong analytical skills with attention to technical details

Strong knowledge of materials, components, and manufacturing processes

Ability to evaluate technical drawings, specifications, and compliance requirements

Familiarity with ERP procurement modules and supplier management systems

Ability to work with cross-functional teams (Procurement, Sales, R&D, Production)
