The Main Purpose of the Container Shipping Specialist is to ensure a smooth and efficient execution of shipping operations. This involves optimizing container shipping processes to meet commercial and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • ">

  • Market Awareness: Stay up-to-date with market dynamics, commodities, volumes, stakeholders, local supply chain, purchase/sale incoterms, local requirements, and specificities.

    ">

  • Ports Operations Monitoring: Monitor ports operations, including container supply, ports congestion, and local activities.

    ">

  • Shipments Booking: Book shipments while observing carriers' nominations and following commercial shipping team instructions.

    ">

  • Space Allocations Management: Manage space allocations to optimize shipping operations.

    ">

  • Shipments Organization: Organize and follow-up on shipments from load port to discharge port, including transshipment operations and eventual cargo diversions.

    ">

  • Shipping Documentation: Ensure timely submission of shipping instructions, packing lists verification, BL drafts approval, LC requirements observation, OBL issuance, and dispatch.

    ">

  • Communication and Coordination: Communicate and coordinate with concerned stakeholders, including warehouses, shipping lines, customs agents, etc., and in-house departments, such as trading, operations, finance, accounting, etc.

    ">

  • Costs Disputes Handling: Handle costs disputes related to containers damages, demurrage, and detention, and escalate if necessary.

    ">

  • Freight Invoices Verification: Verify freight invoices and approve payments.

    ">

  • Carriers Statement of Accounts Management: Manage carriers' statement of accounts, observing pre-agreed credit terms.

    ">

  • Monthly Statistics Reporting: Report monthly statistics.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in the shipping industry, preferably in shipping operations-related departments at a shipping line or freight forwarding company.

  • Familiarity with Incoterms & Shipping Terms: Familiarity with Incoterms and shipping terms.

    ">

  • Shipping Documentation Knowledge: Good knowledge of shipping documentation processes.

    ">

  • Maritime Geography Knowledge: Good maritime geography knowledge.

    ">

  • MS Office Applications: Good level of MS Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.
