Job Overview
The United Nations Population Fund is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Communication Specialist to join its team. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing information programs to publicize priority issues, major events, and program initiatives.
About the Role
This position will be based in the Athens duty station and will report directly to the Deputy Coordinator, MAP Athens. The incumbent will be responsible for promoting and coordinating media coverage of priority issues and major events, as well as monitoring and analyzing current events and public opinion.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement information programs to publicize priority issues, major events, and program initiatives
- Monitor and analyze current events, public opinion, and press coverage
- Promote and coordinate media coverage of priority issues and major events
- Initiate and sustain professional relationships with key stakeholders, including translators, designers, printers, and journalists
- Produce or oversee production of information communications products, such as press kits, press releases, feature articles, speeches, booklets, brochures, backgrounders, audio-visual materials, radio spot programs, and social media content
- Plan and coordinate the production of publications, ensuring adherence to mandates, strategic objectives, and environmental sustainability directives
Requirements
The successful candidate will have an advanced university degree in communication, journalism, public relations, environmental sciences, international relations, business, or public administration. A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in public information, journalism, international relations, or related areas is also required.
Desirable Qualifications
- Relevant working experience in the Mediterranean region, particularly at regional and/or intergovernmental level
- Working experience on communication and information at international level
- Minimum of two years of experience in data analytics or related area
Language Requirements
Fluency in English and French is required, while knowledge of other UN Mediterranean languages is desirable.
