As a Naval Architect at SimFWD, the candidate will be part of the design process governing the layout, structure, stability, and safety of newbuilding or retrofit projects. Major aspect of your work will be to comprehend and ensure compliance with regulatory measures, perform Ship Theory calculations, monitor the Plan Approval process and coordinate design aspects with relevant stakeholders. Part of the candidate's role will be to actively contribute to funded R&D projects and participate in in-house improvement efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop Ship Arrangement and Structural drawings for Ships
  • Prepare Ship Statutory drawings and Ship Theory Calculations for various types of Ships
  • Create 3D surface models in Rhino (including ship's hull and tank 3D models)
  • Track and manage incorporation of technical and administrative comments for drawings.
  • Perform surveys and verification of as-built drawings
  • Track comments and update documents and specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Candidate must have 3 years minimum experience in Ship Design Tasks for Newbuilding or Retrofitting Projects
  • Experienced in technical drafting with high proficiency in the use of AutoCAD and Rhino3D.
  • Degree in Naval Architecture or Engineering Degree with demonstrated experience in the marine industry.
  • Candidate should be proficient with Rhino3D or similar software, capable of complex surface modelling.
  • Candidate must have strong ability to multi-task and manage multiple project deadlines concurrently.
  • Candidate must be familiar with Class Plan Approval procedures and experienced in the implementation of rules.
  • Exposure to software related to Hydrostatics, Hydrodynamics or Ship Theory aspects would be advantageous.
