Metropolitan College, the largest College of University Studies in Greece and member of Alphabet Education, in the context of its continuous development, is seeking to enhance its Department for Architecture and Design, in Marousi Campus, with a:

Digital Workshop Technician / Technologist | (Part time position / 24 hours per week)

Role Overview:

This role relates to technical support of the digital workshop (3D printer, Laser Cutter, or other) within the department of Architecture and Design. It involves the facilitation of technical support and management/operation of resources and students within the department.  Reporting to the Head of Department for Architecture and Design & to the Associate Dean, the successful candidate has as a main goal to synchronize conventional and digital workshop activities in own campus with respect to department students and staff, and ensure parity in teaching, practical skills, and assessment between campuses and for all students.

Role Accountabilities:

  • Provides digital skills support to students across the department.
  • Manages and develops the digital workshop pipelines (accessories and tooling), including purchase orders (requesting / searching for accessories / auxiliaries pricing).
  • Designs and maintain the hosting of a number of workshop safety systems including our tooling (e.g. laser, drills, additive temperature) and soft material cutting.
  • Designs, implements and manages the hosting of tools / systems, as well as students, under the coordination of the Head of department.
  • Automates deployment processes where we can to ensure reliable deployments to digital production services.
  • Being responsible for the configuration of software and the maintenance of hardware, in a range of technologies as required.
Requirements

Critical Experience & Qualifications:

  • BSc degree in any technical subject (or equivalent Level 5 EQF qualification - technician).
  • Proven technical experience on the application of conventional and digital workshop equipment as well as experience of laboratory administrative processes.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Greek & English language.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects & priorities adhering to logistics, timescales and deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Self-motivation, accountability and initiative.
