SCYTALYS
is currently looking for a
DevOps Engineer
responsible for making software delivery faster, safer, and more efficient for Scytalys mission systems. These systems support command and control, intelligence, surveillance, tactical communications, data sharing, and system compatibility for international and NATO customers.

Works Across Software Development, Operations, And Cybersecurity To

• Create reliable, trackable software builds.
• Add security early in the development process.
• Use code to set up and manage infrastructure.
• Automate checks to meet security and compliance rules.

This work supports secure systems in many environments across multiple domains and international partners.

Plan & Design

• Define DevOps roadmaps aligned with programme security classifications.

Build & Integrate

• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines covering build, unit/integration/PCS tests, SCA/SAST), SBOM generation and release gating.
• Manage container-based build systems) and use Kubernetes/OpenShift to run many jobs in parallel.

Secure (DevSecOps)

• Automate vulnerability scanning), licence-risk checks and Infrastructure-as-Code.
• Implement secrets management and zero-trust artefact promotion.
• Drive compliance evidence capture (audit logging, tamper-evident signing) to support formal certification & accreditation.

Operate & Monitor

• Set up and manage monitoring tools to track build systems and running applications.
• Adjust dashboards and alerts to meet service targets and quickly fix issues.

Improve & Automate

• Lead improvement sessions, track DevOps performance metrics (like lead time, failure rate, deployment frequency, recovery time).
• Teach and guide engineers in CI/CD, secure coding, and cloud-native best practices, and take part in internal DevOps communities.

Essential

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cyber Security or related field.
• 5+ years professional DevOps experience, with demonstrable delivery of CI/CD pipelines in classified or safety-critical domains.
• Proficiency in GitLab CI (or equivalent), Nexus/Artifactory, Maven/Gradle and binary promotion workflows.
• Strong scripting/automation experience
• Hands-on with container tooling and orchestration in disconnected or restricted networks.
• Working knowledge of secure coding, supply-chain security and vulnerability management.
• Familiarity with Defence standards and gated reviews
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills in English.

Highly Desirable

• Infrastructure-as-Code experience.
• Experience integrating container and IaC security scanners.
• Zero-trust networking concepts, PKI, Hardware Root-of-Trust, secure enclave deployment.
• Exposure to cloud-hosted sovereign and hybrid defence environments.
