About The Program
This new program focuses on supporting the wellbeing of refugees and asylum seekers through the facilitation of peer support groups and psychosocial support (PSS) activities as well as providing interpretation and translation services. You'll play a key role in helping to design the schedule, develop session content with the team, and bring ideas to life. You will be required to complete relevant training, with opportunities for ongoing professional development and learning, and will provide translation and interpretation support in a variety of settings.

Role Profile
We Are Seeking Individuals Who

  • Are residing in Thessaloniki or the surrounding area.
  • Have an interest in working in the humanitarian field, social work, mental health, or community support.
  • Want to develop their professional skills while providing support for others.
  • Have a strong motivation to provide resources for stress management, promote wellbeing, and build resilience by supporting the psychosocial needs of different communities.
  • Have experience working with a culturally sensitive and trauma-informed approach.
  • Have language skills in Arabic or Farsi, in addition to fluency in English.
  • Are excited to be part of building a new program, contributing ideas, shaping activities, and adapting as the role develops.
  • Are self-motivated but collaborative - able to take initiative while working within a team.
  • We strongly encourage candidates with lived experience of forced displacement to apply for this role.

Core Tasks

  • Plan and co-facilitate peer wellbeing support sessions in collaboration with the team.
  • Participate in the creation of the weekly schedule of activities.
  • Take part in essential training and ongoing professional development.
  • Work with the program director to design your personal development and training plan.
  • Support with the mapping of needs in and around Thessaloniki.
  • Provide translation and interpretation support outside of the program's regularly scheduled sessions, subject to available capacity in the schedule.

Essential Criteria

  • Previous experience supporting refugees, asylum seekers, or other populations.
  • A willingness to learn, reflect, and actively participate in ongoing training and capacity-building workshops.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work efficiently in a diverse team, bringing a learning mindset, flexibility and a positive approach.
  • Able to remain calm, constructive, and solution-focused under pressure.
  • Fluency in English and in either Arabic or Farsi.
  • Minimum six-month commitment.
