Ogenus Offshore is recruiting
Subsea Cable Lay Engineers(with topographer background)
to join a leading
marine contracting firm
specializing in
submarine cable installation
.

The role involves the
operation, monitoring, and control of cable deployment systems
onboard a dedicated cable ship. Engineers will manage
cable lay speeds and tensions
, ensuring optimal
slack placement
on the seabed in close coordination with
subsea plow
and
Dynamic Positioning (DP)
operations.

This position offers structured training in
Makai Ocean Engineering's cable lay software
and practical hands-on experience with
cable handling systems
.

Rotation:
maximum 4 months offshore / 8 months in office

Key Responsibilities

When Offshore

  • Operate and maintain
    linear cable engines (LCEs)
    and related deck machinery
  • Calculate and control
    cable payout speeds
    and
    tensions
    to meet seabed slack and burial requirements
  • Utilize
    MakaiPlan, MakaiLay, or equivalent software
    for real-time cable laying guidance
  • Coordinate with
    subsea plow operators
    and the
    DP bridge team
    to ensure synchronized operations
  • Perform
    preventative maintenance
    and
    diagnostics
    on cable lay systems
  • Support
    route engineering
    input and
    post-lay analysis
    using route and seabed data

  • Maintain accurate
    operational logs
    and contribute to
    safety and performance briefings

  • When Onshore

  • Perform
    software programming
    related to cable lay operations and data processing.
  • Conduct
    topographic studies
    for seabed mapping and route planning.
  • Develop and manage
    computer-based programs and simulations
    to support project planning and execution.
  • Contribute to
    operational planning
    , including route design, equipment configuration, and project scheduling.

Work Schedule & Compensation

  • Rotational Basis:
    Maximum 4 months offshore and up to 8 months in office
  • Base Salary:
    Paid continuously, including standby periods
  • Offshore Daily Rate:
    Enhanced pay when onboard
  • Expenses:
    All travel, accommodation, and offshore work-related costs covered during rotation

Training & Development

Successful candidates will receive:

  • Certified training
    in Makai Ocean Engineering's cable lay software
  • Hands-on mechanical systems training
    on cable handling and deck equipment

Training Commitment:

  • Minimum of
    3 years post-training employment
    required
  • Early resignation will require
    pro-rata reimbursement
    of training costs (⅓ per uncompleted year)

Essential:

  • Educational or professional background in
    Engineering
    (Mechanical or Topographic Surveying)
  • Must be a
    resident of Greece
