Laytime Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical
Laytime Calculation Specialist
to manage, calculate, and negotiate laytime and demurrage claims.

Key Responsibilities

• Laytime Calculation: Accurately calculate laytime for each voyage, ensuring compliance with charter party terms, contracts, and relevant industry practices.
• Claim Management: Prepare, present, and negotiate demurrage/despatch claims with counterparties (suppliers, receivers, owners) resolving disputes in a timely and commercially favorable manner.
• Documentation Review: Examine statements of facts, bills of lading and other documentation to support accurate claim preparation.
• Contract Interpretation: Analyze charter party and contractual agreements in order support laytime position and to ensure correct application in laytime and demurrage matters.
• Dispute Resolution: Liaise with shipowners, agents, and brokers to resolve discrepancies and minimize claim turnaround times.
• Data Management: Maintain accurate records of laytime calculations, claims, settlements, and voyage performance for internal reporting.

Qualifications & Skills

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Logistics, or related field.
• Advanced English level both written and spoken.
• Additional languages considered a plus.

Technical Skills:

· Proficiency with MS Excel.

· Familiarity with charter party forms such as GENCON, ASBATANKVO, AFRICANPHOS.

Soft Skills:

· Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

· Strong negotiation and communication skills.

· Analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities.
