Senior Liferay Software Engineer – Hybrid

We are looking for an experienced Senior Liferay Software Engineer with strong expertise in Liferay architecture, both on-premise and cloud-hosted, to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing and delivering roadmap features for Liferay-based platforms, while also providing guidance to external engineering teams when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions using Liferay Digital Experience Platform (DXP).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, prioritize, and deliver product features aligned with business goals.
  • Lead and mentor external development teams, ensuring adherence to best practices, coding standards, and architectural guidelines.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes, system performance, and overall platform architecture.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Liferay DXP (7.x), including portal development (JSR-286), customization, and system integration.
  • Deep knowledge of Liferay architecture: OSGi module development, Service Builder, theming, and permissions framework.
  • Experience deploying and managing Liferay in cloud environments (AWS, Azure) as well as on-premise infrastructures.
  • Strong background in Java (8–21+), with the ability to work on both modern features and legacy systems.
  • Familiarity with frontend technologies relevant to Liferay (JSP, AlloyUI, React, or other modern JS frameworks).
  • Proven experience with Spring, Hibernate, RESTful APIs, Elasticsearch, CI/CD pipelines, and related frameworks.
  • Basic Liferay administration: user/role management, configuration, performance tuning, and monitoring.
  • Solid experience in mission-critical, customer-facing environments with high performance and elastic scalability.
  • Strong commitment to writing clean, maintainable, and testable code (Clean Code, Clean Architecture).
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a track record of working in agile development teams.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
