Job Description
As a Vetting Superintendent you will be assigned the responsibility of a group of vessels and by using your experience and knowledge you will assume the full supervision of vetting activities of your ships on a daily basis. Main focus areas are:
- Liaising with Masters, HSQE & Vetting Department and other Departments in the scheduling of vetting inspections
- Preparation of SIRE 2.0 inspections, vessel audits, vessel clearance, etc.
- Attending vetting inspections onboard
- Performing navigational audits
- Performing ISM/ISPS/MLC internal audits
- Reviewing audit and vetting reports and implementing necessary corrective actions.
- Dealing with vetting questionnaires and related vetting and screening issues
- Achieving and maintaining HSQE & vetting targets
- Monitoring of the follow up on raised NCRs related to: Internal & External audits findings, Flag & PSC deficiencies and Vetting observations
- Documentation and follow up on Incidents, Accidents, Near Misses, Personal Injuries etc.
- Verifying the effectiveness of the SMS and the degree of its implementation and submitting proposals for improving the system
- Implementing Industry rules and regulations
- Monitoring and enforcing TMSA mapping and compliance
- Leading Management System revisions
- Providing guidance to more junior members of the Department as and when necessary
As a member of the HSQE & Vetting Department, you will report to the HSQE & Vetting Manager and will be supported by colleagues to familiarize yourself with the fleet. You will participate in selected training programs to keep abreast of industry developments. Qualifications and Profile
- Minimum 2 years sea service as Master in tankers (preference Afra/Suez/VLCC)
- Minimum 3 years working experience in a Marine, Vetting or HSQE Superintendent position in tanker shipping companies
- Experience with bulk carrier Rightship inspections will be considered a plus.
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Good time management. Ability to prioritize requirements/tasks, coping with multiple tasks in order to meet deadlines.
- Initiative and independence.
- Strong safety culture.
