On behalf of our client, an internationally awarded FinTech–InsureTech company, we are seeking a
Senior QA Engineer
to join their growing, Agile team. With headquarters in Athens and a remote-first mentality, you'll work on cutting-edge technology platforms powering mission-critical financial and insurance services. The team collaborates remotely day-to-day, while meeting at the Athens office twice a month for team gatherings, innovation sessions, and real connection.

A day in the life of a Senior QA Engineer

As a QA Engineer, your mission is to design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and pipelines that ensure the stability, performance, and scalability of enterprise systems. These systems include distributed microservices, APIs, message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ), and cloud-native backend services primarily built in Java and Kotlin. You will be embedded in cross-functional Agile teams, working alongside backend engineers, DevOps, and product stakeholders to shift quality left and drive test coverage across the SDLC.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement automated testing strategies aligned with Agile delivery.
  • Embed testing early in the development process (shift-left mindset).
  • Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and DevOps to ensure high quality from design to deployment.
  • Continuously improve test coverage, effectiveness, and execution speed.
  • Analyze test results and contribute to release readiness decisions.

What you will need

  • 4+ years of experience in QA, with a focus on test automation.
  • Solid hands-on experience with Playwright or similar tools (e.g., Cypress, Selenium).
  • Strong knowledge of Postman or equivalent API testing tools.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., JavaScript, Python, or Java).
  • Good understanding of RESTful APIs, JSON, and HTTP protocols.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and Agile practices.
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases.
  • Exposure to message-driven systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ) is a plus.
