We are currently looking to recruit a professional to fill the position of
Senior Accountant / Tax Expert
, based in Greece.

Role Description

The role includes ensuring Tax and Local GAAP compliance, managing financial records and conducting accounting reconciliations, contributing in preparation of financial statements and reports, overseeing payroll and conducting ad-hoc tax accounting projects. Key responsibilities involve collaborating with management on financial strategy especially about taxation, coordinating tax audits and mentoring junior staff.

Main responsibilities
:

• Tax Compliance:
  Ensure compliance with legal and accounting standards (like Local GAAP), company policies, and tax laws, including timely preparation and submission of monthly VAT statements, with-holding taxes statements and yearly income tax return.
• Fixed Assets Monitoring:
  Additions, write-offs, IFRS 16 calculations and Fixed Assets register's reconciliation with Trial Balance.
• Month-End Close & Reconciliations:
  Oversee the month-end close process, oversee regular account and bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Reporting:
  Preparing various in-house accounting reports, as well as requested reports from organizations such as Bank of Greece, State Statistics Agency etc.
• Audits:
  Act as a liaison with external auditors, provide necessary information for audits and ensure the integrity of financial information.
• Internal Controls:
  Develop, implement, and maintain effective internal accounting controls to safeguard financial data.
• Mentorship & Guidance:
  Direct and train junior accountants and provide financial expertise to other staff members.

Candidate Profile
:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. Post graduate degree (Master) or qualification (ACCA, IESOEL) is a plus. A' Class signatory right is a plus.
• Over 7 years in accounting or relative fields, preferably in manufacturing companies.
• Proficiency in Excel, excellent knowledge of Taxation and local GAAP, Costing, experience in SAP, fluent in English.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• A strong sense of ethics and trustworthiness is critical due to the nature of financial responsibilities.
• Meticulous attention to detail is required for accuracy in financial data and reports.
• The ability to analyze financial information and provide strategic recommendations, when needed.
