We are looking for a Localization Manager to join our team and take full ownership of our localization strategy. This role is a core part of the Product team — not just managing content translation, but driving growth through high-quality, culturally relevant product experiences in multiple languages.
The ideal candidate is passionate about making products and content resonate across languages and markets while maintaining brand voice and consistency. Adherence to localization best practices and internationalization standards is essential to deliver a seamless experience for the recruiters, candidates, managers, and employees who use Workable daily.
As part of a cross-functional environment, you will design and implement scalable workflows, manage vendor relationships, and partner closely with Product, Engineering, Design, Copy, and Marketing to ensure our localized experiences feel truly native in every market.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement a scalable localization strategy across product, marketing, and support content.
- Embed localization requirements into the product and content lifecycle from the start.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of glossaries, style guides, and translation memories, ensuring they are consistently applied across languages.
- Manage the day-to-day relationships with external translators to ensure quality, deadlines, and consistency are met.
- Operate and optimize workflows in our Translation Management System (TMS) to keep projects efficient and on track.
- Work closely with Product Managers, Product Designers, UX Copywriters, Engineers, and Marketers to ensure localization needs are built into the product/content lifecycle.
- Collaborate with engineering to ensure proper internationalization (i18n) and address any technical barriers to localization.
- Ensure cultural and linguistic accuracy in translations, adapting for local conventions in date/time formats, currencies, and compliance terminology.
- Balance quantity, quality, expansion, and cost in localisation decisions to maximise impact and efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement of localisation workflows, tools, and processes.
Requirements
- 3+ years / proven work experience in localization management, ideally in SaaS or a fast-growing tech company.
- Strong communication skills and cross-functional collaboration.
- Excellent command of English — other languages a strong plus.
- Proven work experience using TMS tools (e.g., Phrase, Lokalise, Smartling, Transifex).
- Strong understanding of internationalization (i18n) best practices.
- Cultural and linguistic insight into European markets.
- Proven track record in managing external translators, including day-to-day coordination and quality review.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail, ensuring consistency across languages and platforms.
It's a plus if you have:
- Experience setting up localization processes from scratch.
- Background in marketing and language studies.
- Familiarity with growth metrics and how localisation impacts user acquisition and retention.
- Familiarity with Figma for reviewing and collaborating on UI copy.
- Knowledge of UX writing and content design principles.
- Knowledge of accessibility and compliance requirements across different markets.
- Experience with content strategy and user research methods.
