Dekoil Inc. is a ship management company that has been in operation since 1983. Our fleet primarily consists of dry bulk vessels, and we operate in various regions including the Mediterranean and Black Sea, Atlantic and Northern Europe, as well as the Red Sea and Indian Ocean.
Role Description
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Technical Superintendent to assume full technical management and operational reliability of the assigned vessels. This role is ideal for individuals seeking to expand their knowledge beyond junior-level, and are ready to take on significant responsibility. You will manage the technical performance of the fleet e
nsuring high standards in maintenance, repairs, inspections, and compliance. You will attend dry-dockings, monitor budgets, and support the crew with technical guidance.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, oversee, and execute surveys, and routine maintenance schedules, managing budgets and vendor relationships effectively.
- Attend to vessel dry-docking when required and determine repair specifications and maintenance.
- Provide direct technical support and guidance to vessel crews, troubleshooting issues remotely and on-site as required.
- Manage the technical budget for your assigned vessels, controlling costs for repairs, spare parts, and stores without compromising on quality or safety.
- Arrange and organize service teams, subcontractors and ensure the quality of the services and spare parts.
- Monitor the PMS system, ensuring proper reporting of works and follow-up of outstanding cases.
- Ensure strict compliance with Class, Flag State
, and safety certificates and arrange for surveys and their renewal as needed. - Coordinate and approve repairs in conjunction with Master and Chief Engineers, reviewing and closing out repair quotes and work orders.
- Coordinate and communicate with suppliers, forwarders, and port agents, ensuring the smooth handling of the department's daily tasks and supporting the timely delivery of ordered spare parts to our vessels.
- Conduct regular vessel inspections to audit technical performance, safety procedures, and maintenance standards.
- Review and maintain technical records and reports, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
Required Qualifications
- You have at least
3 years
of relevant experience, preferably in ship management companies dry bulk vessels.
- You have earned your University Degree in Mechanical or Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering or a Chief Engineer qualification.
- Willingness to travel abroad for vessel inspections, yard periods, and emergencies.
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills in Greek and English.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with a collaborative approach.
- Knowledge in Microsoft Office.
- Experience with ERP systems.
